Letter from the 2017-2018 Junior Fair Ambassador, Gabrielle BatteJr Ambass 2017 GabyBatte

I had the pleasure of being Glencoe’s 3rd Junior Fair Ambassador for the 2017/2018 year and I have had an amazing term. Being a part of this program has provided me with the opportunity to meet new people, learn more about the community and partake in new experiences. To summarize my year, my events included: riding in a horse drawn hay wagon through Glencoe, learning to lead cattle at a local dairy farm, (although they were very stubborn), participating in the variety show, riding in a convertible in the fair parade, assisting where needed over the course of the fair, taking food donations at the Youth Dance, helping Santa at the Christmas parade and finally aiding at the annual Chilli Contest, with much taste testing on my part.

I would encourage anyone and everyone in Grades 6-8 to participate in the upcoming program! Not only did it give me a greater understanding of our community, local agricultural but also everything the Agricultural Society does for our area. It also helped me to push out of my comfort zone with my shyness as well as trying new things, like holding a Python at the Fair.

I am going to truly miss all of the incredible experiences I had with the Glencoe Agricultural Society and the Junior Fair Ambassador program and will never forget the memories I made along the way. I am very thankful for everyone who donated their time to make this program possible for me and others, and also to everyone who made me feel comfortable and more confident.

Thank you.

Gabrielle Batte
